The CPMR, Coordinator of the AI-NURECC Initiative, organised its Final Conference on 4 December 2019 in Brussels (BE).

The AIE was present at the AI-NURECC Initiative Final Conference in Brussels, represented by Vice-President Aldrin Dalipi and Secretary General Francesco Cocco.

The Conference marks another key milestone in the implementation of the joint initiative of all major stakeholders of the Adriatic Ionian Region and paves the way for future cooperation.

Tirana hosted two AI-NURECC events, the first was held in November 2018 focused on Technology and Innovation and the second, in November 2019, involved Adriatic-Ionian youth organisations and was attended by the Albanian Minister of Tourism, Mr Klosi, and the Mayor Tirana, Mr Veliaj. Notwithstanding the event of the earthquake, Tirana, European Youth Capital 2022, is working to its recovery and the Region of Tirana is eager to continue collaborating with the AI-NURECC and similar initiatives”.

Secretary General, Francesco Cocco, presented a letter by EP President, Mr. Sassoli, congratulating the AI-NURECC Initiative for “favouring a more active and a better integration of the Balkans in the EU processes (…) and for contributing to achieving the principle of unity at which the European Parliament aims”. Secretary General also presented among the key actions carried out by the Secretariat within the framework of the AI-NURECC Initiative, the first Adriatic Ionian Youth Organisations Forum (AIYOF) held in Tirana on 19 November 2019, and highlighted AIE’s eagerness to continue working for a deeper involvement of youth in the Macroregional Strategy for the Adriatic Ionian area (EUSAIR).
