30 Years of the Barcelona Process. The regional and local vision of Euro-Mediterranean cooperation

On 22 November 2025, as part of the celebrations of the 30th anniversary of the Barcelona Process, the Government of Catalonia will host in Barcelona the Euro-Mediterranean Summit of Regions. The gathering will help shape positions on the EU’s forthcoming New Pact for the Mediterranean and will culminate in the adoption of a Joint Declaration.

The meeting will feature the participation of AIE Vice President Aldrin DALIPI (Tirana Regional Council) as speaker of the first institutional session, highlighting the AIE’s position and commitment to fostering cooperation in the Mediterranean within the framework of the new Pact.

The event will be attended by high-level regional representatives, providing a platform for regions to articulate their priorities and aligned positions in reinforcing their role in shaping the Mediterranean’s future.

The summit will also include perspectives from other key institutions, including the European Commission (DG for the Middle East, North Africa, and the Gulf), the UfM Secretary General, and Spain’s State Secretary for the EU.
