The PROMONT partners met in Andrijevica (Montenegro) for a project meeting during which the implementation phase of the project was discussed and ongoing activities across all pilot areas were reviewed.

Partners are currently carrying out activities in their respective pilot sites, including Mount Olympus (Greece), Mount Baldo (Italy), Mount Snežnik (Slovenia), Mount Tomorri (Albania), Mount Žaba (Bosnia and Herzegovina), and Mount Komovi (Montenegro). The meeting served as an opportunity to share progress, exchange experiences, and ensure alignment across the different workstreams.

During the first day, partners presented updates on their activities and discussed key issues emerging in recent months. The diversity of the Action Plans was highlighted as a key strength of the project, with each partner developing tailored approaches combining scientific research, education, habitat restoration, and community engagement. Examples include the integration of botanical illustration with field research, as well as the use of interviews with local communities to better understand traditional knowledge and the use of medicinal and aromatic plants. This variety was recognized as essential for addressing biodiversity loss in a context-specific way across different mountain ecosystems.

The Adriatic Ionian Euroregion was represented by Angela Zeffiro, who presented progress on the capitalisation work package and outlined the next steps until the end of the project.

On the second day, partners carried out a field visit to the Mount Komovi pilot area, allowing them to observe its ecological characteristics and biodiversity-rich mountain environment, including high-altitude plant species and traditional pastoral landscapes.

The next project meeting will take place in Bosnia and Herzegovina in October, hosted by the Municipality of Neum.
