Committee of the Regions: Frattura and Dobroslavic elected as Chair and Vice Chair of the Interregional group “Adriatic-Ionian”

Today the Interregional group “Adriatic-Ionian” of the Committee of the Regions has elected the President of Molise Region, Mr. Paolo di Laura Frattura, as chair of the group. Mr. Nikola Dobroslavic, President of Duvrovnik Neretva County and President of the Adriatic Ionian Euroregion has been elected as Vice-chair. The Adriatic-Ionian Interregional Group is a committee set up in January 2013 by the Committee of the Regions to represent an Adriatic-Ionian opinion gathering platform, facilitating a broad exchange of views, ideas and practices between CoR members and representatives from European institutions and bodies, networks, Adriatic Ionian fora and authorities from the eight EU and not EU countries involved in the EU Strategy for the Adriatic and Ionian Region (EUSAIR). The group contributes to the multi-level governance of the EUSAIR and to its Action Plan follow-up and implementation. Specifically, the Interregional Group represents the Regions and Cities within the EUSAIR Governing Board and keep relations with European Commission, European Parliament and Governments for the drafting of programmes, opinions and plans of the territories involved. President Frattura thanks all the CoR members who have elected him as President of the Group. Projects of MED Sustainable Tourism community sign a Common Declaration in Athens

Modular Project of the Interreg MED Thematic Community on Sustainable Tourism met at the second community building event in Athens on 4-5 October 2017 and they adopted a common declaration. The Community Building Event of the Interreg MED’s BleuTourMed Horizontal Project on sustainable tourism was attended by the partners of all MED modular projects and stakeholders involved in the community. PANACEA project: Bridging the Science-Practice-Policy Gaps in Mediterranean Biodiversity Protection

The Secretariat of the Euroregion will attend the event in Barcelona organised by PANACeA project. It is a Knowledge Sharing Event and Strategic Interreg Med Biodiversity Protection Meeting from October 23rd to October 25th 2017. PANACeA is a pan-Mediterranean initiative aiming at streamlining management efforts in Protected Areas for enhanced Nature Conservation & Protection in the Mediterranean Sea. The Project has led to the articulation of an EU Interreg Med Community focusing on Biodiversity Protection (the “MED Biodiversity Protection Community”), bringing together a comprehensive network of experts from public & private institutions actively working to protect biodiversity and natural ecosystems in Mediterranean Protected Areas. Filling the current gap between Science, Management and Policy is one of the priority targets of this EU MED Biodiversity Protection Community. Based on this need, MedCities, as partner fo PANACeA, organises the upcoming “Knowledge Sharing Event & Community Building Workshop” in Barcelona (Spain) towards linking the needs of regional practitioners to researchers and to facilitate evidence-based policy making.
