Croatia is ready to celebrate its entry into European Union

Croatia is preparing to join European Union, with historical-cultural celebrations, but particularly with a solemn ceremony organized by Istria Region. The ceremony, entitled “Istria without borders” will be held just on July the 1st , historical date for the same region and for the entire country that will enter in Europe, after about ten years of pre-accession negotiations, efforts to harmonize national legislation to the EU rules, to reform institutions and procedures. For the occasion, the President of Istria, Valter Flego, called together all presidents and representatives of “friendly” regions – such as those belonging to the Euroregion, which have strongly supported Croatia’s accession to the EU – at the headquarters of Istria Region and at the House of Croatian Defenders of Pula. In these locations, the events will start at 14 pm. “We want to take this opportunity to celebrate the seventh birthday of the Adriatic Euroregion, founded in 2006, on June the 30th , just in the House of Croatian Defenders in Pula,” said the President Flego. A double celebration, therefore, for Croatia, which intends to take with courage and optimism all new opportunities that will arise for the twenty-eighth state of European Union. Seven Euroregion’s counties have chosen their President

Seven Presidents have just been chosen by citizens, in Croatian regions that are members of Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion, at the last electoral competition. Among confirmations and news, Croatia is preparing to face the challenge of the entry into Europe with a political class that has just received the approval of citizens. For Istria Region, it was claimed Valter Flego. Goran Pauk is the new President of Šibenik-Knin Region. At the head of Lika-Senj Region, there will be Milan Kolić. To direct the development policies in the Primorje-Gorski Kotar Region, will think Zlatko Komadina. The last elections concerned Zadar Region, too. The winner was Stipe Zrilić. Even citizens of Split – Dalmatia Region had to decide who will be their president, choosing Zlatko Ževrnja. Nikola Dobroslavić will guide the Government of Dubrovnik-Neretva...

A wide audience participation at the seminar of Sarajevo

          A wide audience participation – made up of young people, given the topic being discussed – was recorded at the international seminar “Intercultural dialogue in the year of European Citizenship: the value of skills and new careers in the Adriatic-Ionian area,” which was held in Sarajevo on 27 and 28 May 2013, as part of initiatives under the project AdriGov (Adriatic Governance Operational Plan). The two-day comparison was organized by Molise Region, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Sarajevo and World Habitat. The seminar was an opportunity to highlight how to become European citizens through an adequate development of skills and knowledge, which should be integrated through a cultural exchange between all the countries that have already expanded – or intend to do it – to the wider dimension of the EU. Subject under discussion was the education to a multi-ethnic vision of relations between countries and the actions to be promoted in order to increase employment opportunities in the Adriatic-Ionian Area.
