Enhancing Integrated Maritime Policy in the Mediterranean basin” is a conference organized by the Molise Region in the framework of the COM&CAP MarInA-Med project with Adriatic Ionian Euroregion as associated partner, and hosted by the Committee of the Regions. Its aim is twofold as it will be the occasion to develop specific political and technical debates on different aspects concerning the future for cooperation in the Med basin while discussing preliminary recommendations to be addressed to the MED Cooperation Programme for its 2014-2020 programming period.

Bringing together representatives of EU and EuroMed Institutions and Assemblies (DGs of the European Commission, Members of the European Parliament, the Committee of the Regions, etc.), local and regional authorities, Mediterranean networks, universities and research centers, the private sector as well as the representatives of transnational cooperation projects, the debates will explore the state-of-play of the implementation of the Med Maritime Integrated projects.

The discussions will particularly focus on the capitalization of their respective results in order to put them into perspective with regards to the conclusions of the previous COM&CAP seminars (Common Fisheries Policy and the future of fisheries and pesca-tourism, governance in the Mediterranean through Macro-regional and Sea-basin strategies, the potential for Blue energies in the basin, among others) and build on further recommendations with contributions from the participants.

The event is composed of round-tables with twofold aim: encouraging political debates dealing with the governance perspectives of the Mediterranean through Macro-regional and Sea-basin strategies with a specific focus on the recently approved EUSAIR, exploring the different aspects concerning the future for cooperation in the area. In the frame of these strategies and for an integrated approach to the Mediterranean and proposing and discussing concrete preliminary recommendations, which the representatives of the maritime projects will have the opportunity to comment and amend through brief presentations of their respective results.

The round-tables will welcome the comments and recommendations of the European Commission, the European Parliament and other relevant stakeholders on the specific topics addressed, namely on the environmental and Blue Growth dimensions of the Mediterranean and their relations on the one hand to industrial development in the basin with a focus on sustainable ports and energy, and on the other hand to maritime jobs and sustainable employment in the basin with a focus on fisheries and tourism. The dialogues, debates and comments coming up from all round-tables should allow the partnership of COM&CAP MarInA-Med to deliver ad hoc recommendations to the MED Programme regarding issues and challenges in the Mediterranean basin to be tackled in the future and during the forthcoming programming period.
