The V Assembly meeting of the Adriatic Euroregion, which was also the election one was held on 22nd October 2009 in Split, Splitsko-Dalmatinska County (HR). The meeting was attended by the representatives of member regions together with the representative of the Croatian Ministry, Mrs. Zeljka Baric. The president of the Splitsko – Dalmatinska County, Mr. Ante Sanader opened the work of the V Assembly with a welcome speech, short after which the president of the Adriatic Euroregion Ivan Jakovčić who is also the president of the Region of Istria welcomed the participants.

The V Assembly meeting has been characterized by the reelection of the working Bodies of the Adriatic Euroregion. Namely for the function of president of the Adriatic Euroregion has been elected for a second mandate Ivan Jakovčić, while the vice president also remained the same Mr. Michele Iorio, President of the Region Molise. The composition of the Adriatic Euroregion Executive Board, Supervisory Board and of the Working Commissions also remained unchanged.
Hereafter, the Assembly adopted the Annual Work Report for 2009, Financial Report for 2009 and the Work Program for 2010.

Together with the five AE Thematic Commissions the 6th one has been constituted, more precisely, the Commission for Welfare.

As the 26th member of the AE, the Greek prefecture of Thesprotia has joined the Euroregion.
A very important item on the agenda was the initiative for the adoption of the Adriatic strategy, which was jointly supported by the members of the Assembly.
