In Sarajevo a meeting to promote intercultural dialogue

Promoting intercultural dialogue, development of new job opportunities and new types of youth entrepreneurship in the Adriatic-Ionian area. This is the purpose of the international seminar entitled “Intercultural dialogue in the year of European Citizenship: the value of skills and new careers in the Adriatic-Ionian area,” organized in Sarajevo on 27 and 28 May 2013, and which is one of the initiatives envisaged by the project AdriGov (Adriatic Governance Operational Plan). The two-day debate was organized by the Molise Region, in collaboration with the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Sarajevo and World Habitat. The seminar takes place right in the year dedicated to the theme of “European citizenship”. This is one way to emphasize how to become European citizens, including an appropriate development of skills and knowledge, which should be integrated through a fruitful cultural exchange between all the countries that have already expanded – or intend to do so – the wider dimension of the EU. The seminar, hosted by the Faculty of Political Science of the University of Sarajevo, opened in May 27th, 2013. Moderator on the first day, Francesco Cocco, project coordinator of AdriGov. Adrigov, a project to improve cooperation

The two days of 8 and 9 May 2013 were very important for the project Adrigov, Operational Plan for Governance in the Adriatic. In the afternoon of May the 8th, in Valle (Istria), was held the Institutional Technical Committee and the PMU (Project Management Unit) to discuss the outlook of the project, develop a strategic plan for the next 6 months and deal with issues related to budget management and optimization of costs. The following day, May the 9th, in the medieval castle Bembo in Valle, was held the opening ceremony of the Training Center for International Cooperation and EU policies. The center was established in collaboration with the University of Pula and the Association of Local Democracy Agencies (ALDA). To welcoming the public there were Oriano Otočan, Minister for International Cooperation and European integration of Istria, Renato Cianfarani, Consul General of the Republic of Italy in Croatia, the rector of  Pola University George Dobrile Robert Matijašić and the President of Istrian County, Ivan Jakovčić. The Center will instruct citizens about European issues and push the business sector, as well as the public, to know how to better manage procedures to tap into EU funding. Executive Committee, a new step for Euroregion development

Two events related to the development policies of Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion took place in the morning of 8th May 2013 in Rijeka, Croatia. Determinant for the future organisation of the area and of relations between Euroregion’s partners, will be the upcoming events fixed during the Executive Committee. After the greetings of Primorje-Montana County President, Vidojie Vujic, who hosted the event, Michele Iorio, President of EAI, introduced the agenda items. The Secretary General of  EAI, Francesco Cocco, reported about activities of the association. It was decided to organize, on the occasion of Croatia’s entry into the EU, an event that, in the presence of all the EAI Presidents, will mark this important step. In the summer, in fact, precisely on July the 1th, Croatia will officially enter in European Union. An important step, not only wanted by the Adriatic state, that has strongly fought to achieve this, but also by the Italian partner, who has always strongly supported this entry in Europe. During the meeting, was agreed the appointment to renew Euroregion’s organs. Finally, it was shared by all the participants the idea of the establishment of an EGTC (European Grouping of Territorial Cooperation), which is considered an investment, in terms of organization, able to create synergies increasingly important and further growth prospects. A forum to strenghten partnerships in Adriatic-ionian area

Promoting economic development in the Adriatic and Ionian coast and spreading the culture of enterprise through the involvement of all Countries of the area. These are the aims of the Forum of Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce that will take place on 14th and  16th May 2013 in Bosnia and Herzegovina, in the town of Medjugorje.  The Secretary General of the Adriatic-Ionian Euroregion, Francesco Cocco, will participate to the debate that will be articulated over three days.  Meetings of the Roundtable on environment, agriculture, female entrepreneurship, fisheries, transport and tourism, a plenary session of the Forum, meetings of the Working Group on European projects:  these are the events of the thirteenth edition. The XIIIth Forum of the Adriatic and Ionian Chambers of Commerce – association with legal personality established in 2001 that combines the Chambers belonging to the coastal regions of the basin – will focus on the theme of  the Adriatic-Ionian macro-region, a strategy that is attracting the interest of all the Countries in the area. The focus will be also on collaboration between institutional networks and  business world.
